Looking Back

Senior year has always been the year to look forward to for me. It's all about finally finishing up your hard work for the past twelve years and moving on to the college of your dreams. All throughout high school I've been told that senior year is your easiest year but I would beg to differ. It's definitely been the most intense year for me so far. This is because I've had to retake my ACT, apply for college, and then focus on doing well in my other classes and everything else outside of school. It's stressful but having my college essays graded by Mrs. Cawlfield before I submitted them really helped ease some of the pressure. Viewing my first semester of Senior Literature I would say that reading the Laramie Project was the most insightful unit. I really enjoyed reading about this murder and how there were multiple stories on what really happened that night. I felt like I was a detective deciphering the truth. I also thought it was even more interesting since it was actually a true story so that made me want to dig even deeper into the information of what occurred. Reading a memoir was interesting as well but I would have to say it was my least favorite unit. This is because I didn't really find any of the books other people read to be interesting at all and it was unexciting for me. However I found fascination in reading the memoir I had chosen. Moving in to the pro and con unit I was a little stressed but after I got in to my topic I found it to be exciting. As we start to watch these presentations I find myself getting excited to see what people chose as their topic and if they can persuade me to be pro or con about it. I'd have to say this is definitely the most amusing and fun unit and I hope that next semester will be that way.

Looking back at my first semester of Senior Literature I'd have to say it was quite successful. I feel as though I've really developed who I am as a writer and have learned a lot of new and highly useful skills that I can bring with me to college. I have heard a lot of complaining about how hard this class is but I have realized that if you just listen to everything the teacher says and take every piece of information in to account, you will find your success. I figure it is the same way in college and I am happy to have learned this from Mrs. Cawlfield. I don't feel like my writing has changed much since the beginning of the school year except that it has just been tweaked for the better. Looking in to the future I hope that next semester will be as successful as it has been for me this semester although I anticipate it to be a little harder from what I have been hearing. I'm hoping that next semester I can take a breath of relief since I will have already gotten my college future planned out and all I will have to do is focus on school and look forward to graduation and summer.
