"Thirteen years later all the buffalo are gone and the last band of free Sioux submitted to white authority at Fort Robinson, Nebraska. The Great Plains of America extinguished" (Dances with Wolves). The fact that the Sioux were defeated by the "white people" was very saddening especially after watching this movie. Dances with Wolves really allowed me to understand the Sioux nation and view the evolution of America. The Sioux are a very humble and emotional tribe and to see them defeated was depressing however they are not gone, they are living on a reservation. After watching this film about the Sioux tribe I would really be interested in learning more about other tribes, where they are today, and how similar and different their way of life has evolved.

Everything Day will Come to an End
After watching the end of Dances with Wolves many emotions were surfacing. One scene that really sparked sadness was when the Sioux tribe came across dozens of buffalo that were slaughtered and skinned by the "white people" and then left to rot. This finding was devastating for the Sioux since buffalo are a main source of survival for them and they use almost every piece of the buffalo they hunt other than just the skin. After the Sioux conclude their hunt it is a ritual for them to eat the heart or another organ of the animal as a way to connect and thank the animal for providing them food and material for survival. To think that the "white people" don't care about using every piece of the buffalo other than the skin and to be so disrespectful towards this animal is heartbreaking. Another scene in this movie that hit home was when John Dunbar got his Sioux name. After the Sioux had seen him playing with Two Socks, his wolf ally, in a field they began to call him Dances with Wolves. This was a happy moment as it is considered to be the point in which Dunbar is finally accepted as one of the Sioux.
